Speed Limit Alert App for iPhone

Roadmeter is a free GPS speedometer for iPhone that warns you the moment you go over a speed limit you choose. Tap a preset or type your own limit; as you approach it the dial turns amber, and when you pass it the dial turns red and Roadmeter alerts you with a chime, a spoken alert, a haptic tap, or any combination. It works offline and shows no ads.

01 What you get

  • One-tap limit presets (25, 35, 55, 65 mph, or 30, 50, 90, 130 km/h), or any limit you type
  • Three states on the dial: under, approaching (amber), over (red, with a hazard frame)
  • Alert by sound, voice or haptic — each is its own switch
  • Your limit and speed stay on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island while a trip records
  • Free: alerts are not part of the paid tier

02 What it doesn't do

  • It does not know the posted limit of the road you are on and does not read signs. You set the limit; the sign is always the authority.
  • It is not a speed-camera or radar detector.

Is the speed limit alert free?

Yes. Speed limit alerts are part of the free app, along with the speedometer, HUD mode and the widget.

Does Roadmeter detect the speed limit automatically?

No. You choose the limit with a preset or by typing it. Roadmeter then alerts you when your GPS speed passes it.
